“Have you heard of Ningbo’s Luocheng? Do you know the stories behind Luocheng’s six gates?”
At 8:00 a.m. on July 28, a special event titled "Tiny Pages Carrying Homesickness: Remembering Luocheng Above the Clouds" was held inside the terminal of Ningbo Lishe International Airport. This summer parent-child activity, jointly organised by the Publicity Department of Haishu District Party Committee, Ningbo Evening News, Haishu District Library, and the Ningbo Airport Terminal Department, attracted dozens of young passengers who were about to board flights.
At the same time, the newly launched "Reading Classics with My Child" Mini Book Garden at Ningbo Lishe International Airport officially opened to the public. As a multi-scenario extension of the citywide campaign “Reading Classics with My Child,” this book garden offers high-quality multimedia reading services for parent-child travellers from all directions.
The Mini Book Garden, co-created by Ningbo Evening News and the Ningbo Airport Terminal Department, is located in the connecting corridor between the airport’s two terminals. The space offers a variety of services:
In the parent-child reading zone, rows of classic books await young readers to discover the treasures of knowledge.
Interactive touchscreen devices allow children to learn classic literature more engagingly and dynamically.
In the audio reading area, sound becomes the medium, offering kids a unique listening experience of classic texts.
Whether you are arriving in Ningbo or about to embark on a journey, families can enjoy a relaxing break in this space while immersing themselves in the world of books. It’s also an opportunity to learn about Ningbo’s local culture and history, adding a special layer of literary pleasure to the travel experience.
In addition to the Mini Book Garden, Ningbo Airport, in collaboration with Haishu District Library, has established the first child-friendly airport library in Zhejiang Province—"One-Meter Book Room: Reading at the Airport." This space integrates aviation elements with reading environments to provide a high-quality, interactive, and relaxing reading space, especially for families with children.
Travellers can borrow books using their social security cards or library cards, and the system is fully connected to the Ningbo public library network, allowing books borrowed at the airport to be returned at any city library branch and vice versa.
